Bird of Liberation Mural

finally sharing some photographs of the mural painting process of this big beautiful bird Jenan Maswadeh, Manar Shreiteh and I painted together with the I Witness Silwan project. an image of liberation & hope. Palestinians deserve to keep their homes where they have lived for years. their voices deserve to be heard and not silenced by the occupation. I think this painting is a powerful image, though few will see outside of Batn al-Hawa. but what also matters is that it brings joy to people in the community, like the family who lives across from this mural. it made me so happy to see how much the woman of the household seemed to enjoy this image, and I'm so grateful for such interactions. also, popsicles are naturally a necessary step in finishing murals in the Jerusalem summer 💫
